It's been entirely too positive around the Islanders lately, what with the shrewd moves and history-making and almost universal praise for their draft picks. What we need is some good, old fashioned negativity to remind everyone that these are the New York Islanders and they are destined for failure so please do not get your hopes up, lest ye be ready for the eventual torture.
Fortunately, nobody knows this better than Newsday's Arthur Staple, who took to Twitter today to throw a few buckets of ice cold water on that scorching hot trade or signing you've been working on. He didn't mention anything about any coaches being fired, which means they'll be around to ground your dreams into powder for at least another few months.
As always we thank Arthur for his time. And remember: You are 100 percent correct - this team absolutely hates you.
Not coming back
Tyler Kennedy.
Think they're moving on. Good dude, hope he catches on somewhere. https://t.co/Vy6YuuDiKt
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
P.A. Parenteau.
Not likely. https://t.co/XMnwW41tYL
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Matt Donovan.
Wouldn't think so. Doubt there's much interest from his side. https://t.co/c1GHAXAVo3
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Lubomir Visnovsky.
Seems that way. https://t.co/B4UH5UwABq
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
[Note: Staple also said Colin McDonald would most likely be moving on, but the original tweet was deleted.]

Not coming here
Johnny Oduya and Mike Green.
Nothing new on Neuvirth, but stuff moves fast on July 1... No on Oduya, Green too expensive. https://t.co/aZHVYD6AOm
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Viktor Stalberg.
Think they want to see what Petrov can do. Not much room up front. https://t.co/X4oVaASfMw
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Phil Kessel.
So if you trade assets for Kessel, you have to let Okposo or Tavares go. That seems... Not smart. https://t.co/g9AdIuKJEp
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Chris Stewart.
Decent player, not much room on the right side though. https://t.co/bTvVyz47GV
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Andrej Sekera or Justin Williams.
Sekera would be great, but too much $$ for them. Probably same on Williams. https://t.co/QTbV6XO3Vm
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Joel Ward.
Not for 4 years. https://t.co/Vadwd9qob4
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Patrick Sharp.
Not giving up serious assets in a deal, so no, I wouldn't think so. https://t.co/KLddkpmAue
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Martin St. Louis.
Don't think there's much interest. https://t.co/ENLY9geuis
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Michael Dal Colle and Joshua Ho-Sang.
Too young. Back to OHL if they don't make the big club. https://t.co/XELfPlsyUO
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Seriously, forget Sharp.
If the Isles traded their first for Sharp, Twitter would melt from all the hot takes. https://t.co/mXh0XlQHvR
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015

Not...er, maybe
Eric Fehr or Erik Condra. (No word on former Coming to America star Eriq La Salle.)
Don't see much room for either one right now, esp. since Grabner wouldn't be moved right away. https://t.co/Hpd9agsX0p
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Brad Richards.
His price may have gone up after this season... Could still be a fit though. https://t.co/h9g0rnrird
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Kevin Czuczman.
Bridgeport. https://t.co/Xwe7gL16Kr
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Paul Martin, Cody Franson, Tim Jackman or Sekera.
Martin maybe on a 1-year deal, but Sekera/Franson will be too costly, Jackman too slow. https://t.co/kLFzQN8Tl6
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
Krill Petrov.
Will be on July 1. https://t.co/h3hjDshVsY

Not at all on topic
Wait. The Islanders near the salary cap?
Yes. Hasn't appeared to sink in yet in some places, however... https://t.co/qDGWHx2WOd
— Arthur Staple (@StapeNewsday) June 29, 2015
And a query from a Mr. Afrosupreme: "Do you even watch the games?"
I'm too busy sending out angry tweets, so obviously not! https://t.co/z4qiDGxJtx
