Islanders News: It is a lamp, you nincompoop, but it's a major award. I won it!

The NHL Awards Show is tonight at 7 pm on NBCSN in the US and Sportsnet in Canada. In case you forgot, John Tavares is a finalist for the Hart Trophy for league MVP. He probably won't win, but you should watch the show anyway for the awkward speeches, bad comedy sketches and rare, appreciated glimpses of player personalities.

Plus, it's not like there's anything else on anyway. You're not going to watch the Mets, so don't even try that excuse.

Islanders-y stuff

• The salary cap gets a $71.4 million dollar limit for next season, and the Islanders are in good shape with about $16 mill to spare. But RFAs Anders Lee, Brock Nelson and Thomas Hickey are waiting new deals. [LHH]
