Well, that was less than ideal. Game 6 is Saturday at the Coliseum at 3 pm, thanks to the Predators win over Chicago.

- Another game, another Islanders defenseman down. Calvin deHaan took a late, peripheral hit up high from Troy Brouwer in the third period. He left the game and did not return. [LHH]
- Ryan Pulock might join Griffin Reinhart in the Game 6 line-up if deHaan can't go. [Newsday]
- Anders Lee fought Tom Wilson just before the Islanders scored. And for one minute, all of the right narratives seemed to align. Alas... [LHH]
- The neutral zone play of the Islanders gave the Caps entirely too much time and space. [garik at Islander Analytics]
- I might be wrong, but I think the Islanders managed to make it out of last night's game without any broken sticks. That would be a pleasant surprise this series. [ESPN]
- Will the Coliseum give the Islanders a boost or just a "shoooooooooooooooot?" [Herrmann]
- A loss in the Coliseum's final game isn't something the Islanders want on their ledger. [PHT]
- The Caps could close Nassau Coliseum on Saturday the way Georgetown closed Manley Field House in Syracuse which I guess means something. I have no idea. [Dan Steinberg at WaPo]
- Barclays Center will host Brooklyn Hockey, a four team college tournament on November 1st. [Barclays | SBN College Hockey]
Beyond the Echo Chamber
- Playoff update: Everyone on the brink won: Nashville [OTF], Tampa Bay [Raw Charge] and Vancouver [Nucks Misconduct].
- The Rangers are up 3-1 against the Penguins but know they haven't played that well. [Sporting News]
- Aaron Ekblad, Johnny Gaudreau and Mark Stone are your Calder Trophy finalists. Sorry, Filip Forsberg. [NHL.com]
- The owner of the Sharks tried to reassure fans that the team is in good hands. He failed. [Fear the Fin]
- Is it us or have there been less suspensions lately? [Undisclosed Injury]
- Dallas' ace play-by-play man Ralph Strangis won't be returning to the Stars next season. I'm almost more bummed out about this than the Islanders losing. Strangis and Darryl "Razor" Reaugh are the best broadcast team in the league. Good luck to him. [DBD]
- Canadian star Hayley Wickenheiser talks about Steve Montador's and offers a heartfelt look into depression and anxiety among pro athletes. [Players Tribune]
