From the desk of John Tavares, the NHL's Second Star of the Month

The Islanders captain "writes in" after being commended by the NHL on a great month.

Hi again.
Hi again.
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Hi. I'm John Tavares of the New York Islanders. You may remember me from such goals as:

"Not for the Deek"

"Rebound and Gagged"

"The Devil's Bungalow"

And "The Devils Bungalow 2: Electric Bungalow."

January 2015 was a pretty good month for me. So good in fact that the NHL named me its Second Star of the Month. I had eight goals and eight assists in twelve games last month which was enough I guess. I felt like I could have had more but I won't argue.

I have 23 goals and 48 points this season and just came back from the All Star Game in which I scored four goals on three different goalies (and missed out on the MVP trophy. It's a long story. Just let it go).

The other two stars for January were Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals and Tuukka Rask of the Bruins. Ovechkin's team is five points behind mine right now and had to win every game for two months just to get that close. Rask is the goalie in that second video up there. I'm not saying, but I'm saying. Y'know what I'm saying?

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the support and I'll do my best to keep the Islanders rolling for the rest of the season. I just try to get better everyday and we have a lot of work to do if we want to go deep in the playoffs.
