Brock Nelson scored early, Sebastian Collberg scored midway, and Jack Skille scored late as the New York Islanders A, er, afternoon squad defeated half of the Ottawa Senators, 3-2, Monday afternoon in St. John's, Newfoundland.
The teams played even through 40 minutes, entering the intermissions at 1-1 and 2-2 scores. Nelson also factored in on Collberg's goal. Skille went upstairs with just 1:27 to go in the game.
Ottawa then pulled their goalie for a sixth attacker, but David Leggio held the fort to preserve the half-win. Chad Johnson had played the first half of the game, stopping 12 of 13 shots. Here's the official site's recap.
The teams, or at least their laundry while sported by the other half of their split squads, meet again in the evening at 6 p.m. in the same location. No doubt, jobs will be won and lost.
