In a video at the team's official site, new signing Kevin Czuczman discussed his "late bloomer" route from Ontario to an NCAA scholarship at Lake Superior State, to an NHL contract with the New York Islanders.

On the team he just joined:

"I love the direction this team is going. it's just loaded with great people. My level of comfort here is, they make me feel wanted. It's something special to be a part of. The new group that's forming here is too exciting to pass up."

The defenseman, 23, signed a two-year entry level contractt that will kick in as he joins the team this season.

After his first practice, he talked about the transition with the official site:

"The coaches are trying to ease me into the transition from college," said Czuczman. "It’s a totally different style of hockey. It’s much more efficient. It’s not run and gun like it was in college. They are helping me with that and trying to take the next step in my career."
