Fresh off hype and ballyhoo in Brooklyn for the first-ever NHL (preseason) game at [bank or financial outfit] Center, the remainders and some other unfortunate saps must travel to Nashville for a game that has zero broadcast coverage. No stream, no audio, no love for the addicts.
For the Islanders, it's five days until the next game, a rematch with the Predators on Friday at Nassau Coliseum. But though decisions are likely this week, camp will remain a mix of regulars and prospects since the Islanders' final preseason action, a week from today, will be split squad games against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Sept. 29.
In the meantime, tonight features some odd combinations and another audition for Anders Nilsson, the big Swede goalie coming off a health-ravaged season who is now looking to win the backup goalie job away from Kevin Poulin.
Once again, here are the expected lines:
Forwards
40 Michael Grabner - 16 Peter Regin - 96 Pierre-Marc Bouchard
27 Anders Lee - 29 Brock Nelson - 18 Ryan Strome
40 Mike Halmo - 28 Johan Sundstrom - 38 Chris Bruton
36 Eric Boulton - 61 Riley Wetmore - 49 Justin Johnson
Defensemen
