The New York Islanders tied their game in Carolina with just over a minute to go in regulation, ensuring one regulation point.
Shortly afterward, the Washington Capitals iced their home victory over the Winnipeg Jets. That combo ensured the Islanders are making the playoffs for the first time since 2007. It also means the two fresh clinchers might even face each other. But we'll worry about that later.

The Islanders are leaving Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum within a couple of years, but before they do they're going to let the old barn have playoff hockey again:
