The New York Islanders did something damn near unheard of for them in 2013-14: A regulation win, sealed with an empty netter, overcoming some early and potentially deflating adversity.
Their coach, who still has the faith of management, and their snakebitten constant PK threat, who hadn't scored since opening night, both looked relieved to have things go their way again.

- Mostly liked the play of the defense for the third game in a row.
On Grabner breaking his slump: "Have to get those guys going. Secondary scoring, so important." - On fighting through this: "Try to teach the guys every day…stay the course, stay with it. Play the puck with confidence. … Decision-making with the puck was good for the most part."
- On blowing the 2-0 lead again: "We don't think about that. You can watch games every single night and teams have leads like that and don't get the win."
- Biggest win of the season? "No. They're all big. We've lost some heartbreakers. … but this is a tough building to come play in."

- "It definitely feels good, especially coming in a win."

The Isles are back at it Saturday night at home against the Ducks, who, well, they pose a considerably greater threat than the Rangers.
