New York Islanders training camp is underway! Hockey is actually happening!

Before we resume our angst over the lineup and roster, just thought we'd get that expression of joy -- and deep inside, self-loathing for so easily forgiving the stoppage -- out of the way.

Initial combinations Sunday, according to the team:

Forwards

Moulson-Tavares-Okposo
Ullstrom-Nielsen-Boyes
McDonald-Cizikas-Strome
Martin-Reasoner-Boulton

(After additional tests, Michael Grabner then joined them. Per Arthur Staple, he took Ullstrom's role on the wing, pushing Ullstrom down to the third, and Strome down with the fourth group. Josh Bailey and Jesse Joensuu are both out with injuries.)

Defense

MacDonald-Hamonic
Streit-Martinek
Landry-Carkner
Reinhart-Wishart

Goalie

Evgeni Nabokov
Rick DiPietro

The Islanders also announced they will play a Blue and White scrimmage at Nassau Coliseum Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., and will have practices at the Coliseum Tuesday, Jan. 15 (11 a.m.), and Thursday, Jan. 17 (10 a.m.) -- all open to the public with free admission and free parking.

According to a source for SNY's Point Blank, that scrimmage is likely to include the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. (The team announcement says it will include "players currently playing for" the Sound Tigers.) The scrimmage will also be streamed live over the web.)
