NHL Draft 2012: New York Islanders Select Griffin Reinhart With No. 4 Pick

With the No. 4 pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, the New York Islanders have selected Griffin Reinhart, a defenseman from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.

A native of North Vancouver, Reinhart is ranked No. 10 among all North American skaters by NHL Central Scounting, and is ranked No. 4 overall by TSN. He led all Edmonton defenseman with 12 goals in 58 games during the 2011-12 WHL season, while adding in 24 assists. This came after a rookie season with the team in 2010-11, during which he put up a solid 25 points (6 goals and 19 assists) in 45 games.

He is the son of former Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames defenseman, Paul Reinhart, and his brother Max was drafted in the third round (64th overall) by Calgary in 2010. He also has another brother who plays in the WHL, and will be eligible to be selected in the 2014 NHL Draft.
