The rendering; she's a lovely beast isn't she Nassau? It looks like it's us against the world folks. If we come, they may build it.

Strangely enough, there continues to be opposition in the form of semi-local sports writers who are against the arena referendum for the Islanders. George Vecsey seems to think the "figures seem suspect" and basically that we'd all just become Ranger or Devil fans or something [NY Times] and Larry Brooks (oh Brooksie) makes this claim [NY Post]:

Brooklyn residents in the 1950s probably would have killed for the right to spend the adjusted equivalent of $100 or so a year — that’s what it may amount to for each Nassau County household — to have kept the Dodgers in Flatbush.

Alan Hahn, the former Islander beat writer prior to Greg Logan, who gave way to Katie Strang, took to twitter this week to voice his disapproval of the arena plan on the grounds of Nassau maintaining control of the property. Which is probably correct, it's just that hey, options are in short supply right now. After the jump, some appropriate Nassau County political music and a couple of links.

I will stop. I will stop at nooothiiing.
Say the right things...when electioneering.
I trust I can rely on your vote.

When I go forward, you go backwards
And somewhere we will meet.
