Another week and Bridgeport continues to keep things interesting. The team went 1-2, chasing two different goalies (and causing a Manny Legace sighting) while the PP went 1 for 13 and David Ullstrom was given a star of the night twice. At 9 goals, Justin DiBenedetto and Ullstrom are tied in 3rd among league leaders in goals. Ullstrom is also on a 5 game goal scoring streak in November, eclipsing his 4 game goal streak from October. Casey Cizikas is tied for 8th in points among rookies. The team itself is still plugging along at just a notch over .500 with a 7-6-1-0 record.
Sunday Nov 6 Vs St John's (Jets)
St John's started the game reeling off the first 3 goals in the first period on 10 shots on Mikko Kosikinen. BP answered back in the final 2 minutes of the first with 2 goals in 13 seconds. The first was scored by Ullstrom (Dylan Reese) followed by Casey Cizikas (Dibo and Tim Wallace). St John's pulled David Aebischer not more then five minutes into the second following a goal by Aaron Ness (Jeremy Colliton). Unfortunately Eric Pasquale held down the fort, making 12 saves on 12 shots while Mikko let in the game winner on a PP to finish out the nights scoring. Ullstrom was named 3rd star.
Friday Nov 11 Vs Worcester (Sharks)
Another BP rally falls just short in the end. Ullstrom (Cizikas, Matt Donovan) opened up scoring for BP tying the game at 1 with 2 minutes left in the first. The Sharks took back the lead in the 2nd and got the insurance goal 5 minutes into the third. Nino Niederreiter (Trevor Frischmon, Anton Klementyev) scored his first AHL goal with under three minutes to play but it was too little too late for BP. Anders Nilsson has 26 saves on 29 shots for the night.
Saturday Nov 12 Vs Springfield (Future Home of James Wizniewski's Cap Hit)
Well you have to give it to Bridgeport, they like to make a game of it. They chased Englishman Dan Taylor after only 8 minutes via 3 goals on 6 shots. Niederreiter (Frischmon),PP Goal by Calvin De Haan (Frischmon) and Dibo (Aaron Ness) were your goal scorers. Ullstrom put up what should have been a garbage time goal at the midway point of the second. Instead it was the game winner, as BP had held Springfield to just 12 shots through the first two periods. In the third period? They allowed another 19 shots and Alex Giroux scored the third goal of the period with 30 seconds left and the goalie pulled to make it a nail biting final half minute. Ullstrom was named first star and Frischmon was named second star. Kevin Poulin got the win with 28 saves on 31 shots.
