Islanders Gameday: Life without Comeau; closing the Igloo

Complete Coverage >

The funny thing was first noticing Sound Tigers beat writer Michael Fornabaio tweet that Greg Mauldin wasn't around today, then seeing Katie Strang use that same texty medium to report Richard Park is out (eye), Mauldin is up. Word travels in curious ways with this club.

Anyway, Fornabaio got some praise for Mauldin out of Sound Tigers coach Jack Capuano. You get the sense it was his recommendation that Mauldin be rewarded with his first NHL game in six seasons.

Also: Bruno Gervais returns, so Mark Flood returns -- to Bridgeport. Slightly less significant: Some Malkin guy is back for the Penguins.

If you didn't catch it, this game is on NHL Network in the U.S., for whatever segment of you is out-of-market but in possession of such an esteemed tier of cable/satellite multimedia video entertainment. There will probably delays associated with the pageantry of saying goodbye to the Igloo, so who knows when actual puckdrop will be. FanHouse had some nice reviews of that old funny-looking barn's greatest moments. Playoff moments from 1991 and 1992 were included; strangely, 1993 was not.
