Islanders Gameday: Can Weight rescue this powerplay?

Complete Coverage >

Doug Weight is a comin' back, and John Tavares is as happy as Scott Gordon to see him on the powerplay: "What he sees from back there, it makes it easier for everybody," Tavares said.

UPDATE: Tavares is moving to the left wing on a line with Rob Schremp and Trent Hunter. How bad is it that I'm excited by this just for the sake of mixing it up? I guess 82 games makes for a long season.

Meanwhile, we were speaking of the possibility of claiming Mathieu Schneider (who has cleared waivers) for the powerplay, but get this: He is being axed for "diva-like act(s)." The plot thickens. In that thread, HugoAgogo pointed out Schneider's awful defensive numbers both this year and last; I think those are very legit concerns. My only interest in Schneider was for the powerplay, which he could still help. But then enter Doug Weight, hopefully healthy enough to give it a go for a while.

If you're around for this one (I will be for a bit), enjoy. Otherwise, have one fantastic and safe evening, and maybe we'll talk this one over in the morning. Or afternoon.
