Roloson traded to Tampa for D prospect Ty Wishart

Wishart has played all season in the AHL and was the 16th overall pick in 2006. [Update from Dominik: Per the Isles, Wishart will report to Bridgeport.]

Actual NHL news: Canucks sign Schneider, trade for Lukowich, Ehrhoff

Hey, for hockey news, it sure beats men in suits or boys in taxi cabs. James Mirtle has his take on what it means. Check Fear the Fin and those lovable fisters at Nucks Misconduct for local views.

Islanders headcount

Bill Guerin: gone. Jon Sim: demoted. Witt, Martinek, Hilbert, Weight: "Present, sir!" I don't imagine Garth Snow's press conference is going to be all that riveting, but we'll see how ornery the press is after waiting four days for the captain to be traded for a 3rd-or-worse pick.

Campoli, Comrie to Ottawa - ha!

The House of Rebuild is in effect y'all, I said the House of Rebuild is in effect. Chris Campoli and UFA Mike Comrie to Ottawa for Dean McAmmond and the Sharks' 2009 first-round draft pick, obtained from Tampa Bay in August 2008. Apparently Ottawa thinks it can make the playoffs? I like the first-rounder. I think the defense needs an overhaul. I don't know why McAmmond other than our continuing injuries at center. I'll have more later. What's your vote?

Fritsche grabbed by Wild

For D Erik Reitz. I only mention it here because there was a surprising amount of clamoring among Isles fans for the club to claim Dan Fritsche when he was on waivers. Personally, I didn't see it -- not with his stats (222 GP, 30G, 37A) and Gordon's in-progress effort to train our existing prospects on his system. Who knows, though? Maybe someday I'll eat those words. Maybe he at least becomes a Lemaire cog.
