The Parrish move, in a nutshell:
"We can talk youth, but at the end of the day, they have to earn it with their performance" [coach Scott Gordon said]. "If Parrish is better, it makes us a better team. The onus is on the young player to make sure it’s not taken away."
At the same time, Gordon cautioned, Parrish must be demonstrably better to win a place with the Isles and an NHL contract. "If everything is equal, we’re better served with the younger player," Gordon said. "There’s more room for growth and development. We’re not going to change and apple for an apple."
