The Islanders have recalled Matt Martin on an emergency basis due to injuries to Trent Hunter and Michael Grabner.

The deal amounts to the maximum allowed under the CBA, with a base salary of $900,000 a season and bonuses of up to $600,000 per season, meaning the contract could be worth $4.5 million.

Mikko Koskinen’s first ECHL loss comes in Game 1 at Las Vegas; he gave up five goals in a little over half the game as the Wranglers scored four goals in a little over seven minutes in the second. Game 2 is Wednesday at Vegas.

Matt Martin and Jesse Joensuu practiced, in their old familiar spots. Dustin Kohn was in town [in the stands with Garth Snow], but it doesn't sound as if he'll play while he's here.

A smooth-skating puck-mover who isn’t afraid to rush, de Haan has 19 points through 27 games.

"Obviously I'm getting frustrated," he says. "I'm probably playing the best hockey of my life and I'm not getting any points.
