"When we started the season last year, the organization was basically empty," Allaire said. "We had one goalie who couldn’t play in the NHL anymore [Toskala], one goalie with no experience [Jonas Gustavsson] and one goalie who was coming out of the ECHL [Reimer].
Part of the allure of Toronto for Rynnas was Leafs goaltending coach Francois Allaire, somewhat of a rock star among the netminding community.
"It’s a good situation with a three-year contract," said Roy. "He’ll get to work with a goalie coach who loves working with goalies who play his style."
"Vesa is not a guy who likes to build relations with coaches. He preferred to be by himself," said Allaire. "To do that, to say, `I'm okay by myself, I know what to do,' you have to be really good in this league in 2010."
