Awards piling up for Barclays Center. On Wednesday night, at the annual Sports Business Journal awards ceremony, Barclays Center was named the "Sports Facility of the Year" A week ago, Architizer Magazine named the arena its "building of the year."

Prokhorov increasingly active in politics

On Saturday, Mikhail Prokhorov confirmed he'll run in Moscow city council elections. Sunday, he told a candidates forum they should understand Russia is "becoming more like the USSR." In short, he's becoming more politically active again.

Talk of competition between MSG and Barclays Center has always been dismissed diplomatically by the two sides. MSG's mantra is, "The Garden is the Garden," while Barclays officials say there's plenty of room in the region for both. Not anymore.

How Much Profit Will Barclays Center, Nets Earn?

The answer to that question is "a lot." Forest City Enterprises, Bruce Ratner's parent firm (who owns pieces of the Nets and Barclays Center, projected the arena itself will earn $70 million a year. Mikhail Prokhorov hopes for $20 million from Nets.
