The Connecticut Posts' Michael Fornabaio with the details after Tomas Marcinko was taken off on a stretcher after an errant skate blade in the neck area. Staios Out with Possible Concussion; Ness/deHaan to get call?

Because of work I don't get to write much anymore but I thought most of us would find this interesting. This makes sense and makes one wonder how long he has played with these symptoms.I keep hearing what a trooper Staios is but I saw a player constantly pinching and out of position. In the past few games his overplaying has cost us too many goals.

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced Saturday that they have signed goaltender Steve Valiquette to a professional tryout contract (PTO). Valiquette will serve as Kevin Poulin's backup in tonight's game against the Springfield Falcons. Valiquette backed up Rick DiPietro in 2000-2001 season, and played with Springfield when he injured his foot.

Highlights: Sound Tigers 4, Hershey Bears 3

Taking on the Hershey Bears the other night the Sound Tigers won it 4 - 3 on some spectacular goals and goal tending from Thor. Looked like a really fun game to watch. Nino scored on a penalty shot with some nifty moves, while Ullstrom keeps rolling with his 6th goal in 6 games (10 overall). Making a strong statement to push for the big club as the first call up. His goal was a coast to coast, drive to the net. Thought it was worth posting up.

Nino Niederreiter, Trevor Gillies to AHL Bridgeport

As discussed earlier, this is a possibility for Niederreiter only as a conditioning stint (14 days max). Both he and Trevor Gillies skated with the Islanders today but are expected to play for the Sound Tigers tomorrow morning.

New AHL alignment and playoff structure

From the playoff standpoint, it's identical to the NHL system save for the best of 5 opening round. The divisions themselves are largely self-explanatory, but you'd think they'd have switched Charlotte and Abbotsford. Interesting that NY teams are in 3 divisions among both conferences!

Pat Bingham will not return as head coach of Bridgeport

Katie Strang #Isles will not be bringing back Pat Bingham as head coach in Bridgeport. No head coach names as of not. To be continued 21 minutes ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply Pat Bingham won't be back as Sound Tigers coach. No replacement named. Matt Bertani, trainers expected to return. 3 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply Does this open the door for Doug Weight to begin his coaching tenure? Doesn't sound like a great plan, but hey, convention is overrated. Will update link with full story when available. This is kind of shocking since there was really very little opportunity for any coach to prove anything. They had injuries and call-up problems all year.

Greenwich native Atkinson starts professional career tomorrow night with Springfield Falcons

Best of luck to BC's Cam Atkinson, who begins his professional career tonight with the AHL's Springfield Falcons. Springfield hosts the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:30 PM.

Tonight's Rookie Game to be streamed live

For anyone that isn't able to get out to the TD Garden tonight, the Bruins will be streaming tonight's rookie game vs. the New York Islanders live on their website.

Rookie Games vs. Islanders on Wednesday & Thursday at TD Garden

The Bruins youngsters will take on the New York Islanders' prospects on Wednesday and Thursday night at TD Garden. Tickets for each game are just $5 and it will be your first chance to see first round draft pick Tyler Seguin in game action. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation (which is actually an organization that does some great work for local charities in New England and not just a code word for Jeremy Jacobs' code bank account). These games were originally scheduled to take place at the Bridgeport Sound Tigers' practice facility in Shelton, CT, but were moved to TD Garden.
