Snow to 'Plan B' on Guerin?

Two hours left, with Islanders fans waiting for one not-very-noteworthy deal ... are we getting nervous yet? Just as Mark Recchi moves to Boston, the original Bill Guerin deal is said to be off (NHL Live). Coincidence? Meanwhile, the Isles are supposedly in touch with Pittsburgh, and Chicago is still hunting a center. If the Pens want Guerin, do they hold all the leverage? Are the buyers dwindling? Will Snow feel compelled to make a Guerin move no matter what, or will '10 minutes' patch things up? And has Calgary bought up the whole freaking store?

Satan, half the league on waivers

Roberts, Morrison ... anyone you want? We got room.

Jon Sim on waivers

[Update 1 pm: Logan pretty much confirms the unhappy vet theory or implies such. Meanwhile, Islesblogger has some recent Sim quotes about his play.] Chris Botta says Jon Sim's three-assist night on Versus upped his value to ... waiver exposure? What do you think the chances are Pretty darn good, I'd say, that Sim is one of the frustrated veterans regarding Gordon's use of vets and youth?. Sim, at $1M per through next season, already cleared waivers once this season. Sounds like the Islanders really don't want that salary on the books nor "voice" in the room.

Campoli, Comrie to Ottawa - ha!

The House of Rebuild is in effect y'all, I said the House of Rebuild is in effect. Chris Campoli and UFA Mike Comrie to Ottawa for Dean McAmmond and the Sharks' 2009 first-round draft pick, obtained from Tampa Bay in August 2008. Apparently Ottawa thinks it can make the playoffs? I like the first-rounder. I think the defense needs an overhaul. I don't know why McAmmond other than our continuing injuries at center. I'll have more later. What's your vote?

The NHL trade market on Feb. 4

"The New York Islanders continue to explore trade possibilities for veteran centers Mike Comrie and Doug Weight, both unrestricted free agents July 1. ... Tkachuk, Weight, Comrie ... time will tell whether any of those centers interest the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs lost arguably their best forward this season in center Robert Lang this past Sunday." >>Pierre LeBrun It's funny: Before this season, I saw Lang as more valuable than Weight. Now, current Weight looks as valuable as pre-season Lang was -- but not as good as Lang became for the Habs before this injury. That injury really hurts, and Lang will be tough to replace. But if they want to make an offer...

Columbus gets their center?

The Blue Jackets - the only team thus far to even be rumored to be looking at Doug Weight so far - have acquired RW/C Jason Williams from Atlanta. Unlike Weight on Long Island, Williams wasn't working out in Atlanta, so he's a cheap way to help the Blue Jackets power play - a role Weight also offers. Jackets fans are pleased. Will Weight have suitors when he returns to the lineup?
