New York Islanders Game Recaps

Detroit 5, Islanders 0: 10 Things I Hate About You

The Islanders lost once again, and not surprisingly, in the same exact ways they've managed to lose most of their other games this month

Jets 3, Isles 2: Familiar sequence

It was another multi-goal deficit and another comeback fallen just short as the New York Islanders dropped their fourth game in a row and ninth regulation loss in their last 11 games.

Flyers 5 (EN), Isles 2: Way down in the hole.

After a scoreless first period with shots 10-10, the New York Islanders gave up three goals in the first 3:48 of the second period, the third coming on the penalty kill. There is more to the story, but that's all you need to know.

Pens 4, Isles 3: Turnabout.

A an all-too-typically wild affair between these two teams included a two-goal comeback by the Islanders and some firewagon hockey before Sidney Crosby's late game-winner.

Leafs 5, Isles 2: Typical.

The New York Islanders trailed for all but the first 22 seconds as the Toronto Maple Leafs did what they do, and the Isles obligingly played their own frustratingly familiar role.

Isles 5*, Wings 4 (*SO): Impressive yet hairy

A wild shootout win (5-4) makes the New York Islanders 6-0-1 against the Detroit Red Wings over their last seven meetings, with their last regulation loss coming in 2003.

Kings 3, Isles 2: Ness' 1st, then Devastation

The New York Islanders held a 2-0 lead through two periods, then the Los Angeles Kings showed them who's boss.

Isles 3, Preds 1: Functional domination

The New York Islanders finally found the game they've been looking for, taking advantage of a team that has watched its game go astray, resulting in a feel-good 3-1 win

Canadiens 4, Isles 2: Four losses, zero points

The New York Islanders completed a completely futile four-game road trip by picking up zero standing points and helping three Eastern Conference teams break free of early season slumps, the most recent benefactor being the Montreal Canadiens.

CBJ 5, Isles 2: Another Metro loss; Vanek hurt

The Islanders drop another to a slumping Metro Division rival: The finish in close has not been there, the defense continues to concede too much room, and the goalies aren't about to stand on their head to cover those warts.
