New York Islanders Game Recaps

Isles 2, Avalanche 1 (OT): Grabner's luck turns

Thomas Vanek and John Tavares had point streaks broken, but a more important streak grew: The New York Islanders won their sixth consecutive road game thanks to Michael Grabner's overtime winner over the Colorado Avalanche.

Isles 5 (EN), Leafs 3: Goals sure are nice

The New York Islanders won their second game in as many nights thanks to a solid effort and some generosity from Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier. Calvin de Haan's first NHL goal was the difference.

Isles 7, Stars 3: Sexy Tavares goal explosion

In their last home game for the next two weeks, the New York Islanders got into a track meet with a Dallas Stars team that has been struggling defensively. Excellent idea, particularly with John Tavares in the mood for a hat trick and five points.

Canes 3, Isles 2: Stupid mistakes are stupid.

Mistakes were made. The Islanders made more.

Isles 3, Hawks 2 (OT): Non-Olympian Okposo O.K.

Kyle Okposo isn't an Olympian, but he surely feels like one after tonight.

Isles 5, Bruins 3: Come(back) again?

The New York Islanders mounted another unlikely comeback just when things looked bad, and came away with a 5-3 victory on New Year's Eve in Boston.

Isles 5, Wild 4: Okposo finishes comeback from 0-3

Playing in St. Paul on the second half of a back-to-back, the Isles relived several familiar themes from this season while reversing an important one, completing a 0-3 comeback with a 5-4 win.

Devils 2, Isles 1: A tease, a bounce, a loss

In another costly Metropolitan Division meeting, the Isles lost 2-1 to the New Jersey Devils, making it eight games at home without a win (0-4-4).

Isles 3, Red Wings 0: Just as you expected.

So often over the last several seasons, strange things have happened when the New York Islanders meet the Detroit Red Wings. So it went Monday night as the Isles torched the Wings in the first period and Evgeni Nabokov earned a 23-save shutout.

Ducks 5 (EN), Isles 3: Same ol story

It's all more of the same as the New York Islanders took a fortuitous two-goal lead into the third period, which they let familiarly and steadily slip away for another regulation loss against the Anaheim Ducks.
