Swedish-flag

Mika Zibanejad scores the game-winning goal for the Swedish team to bring Sweden its first gold in 30 years! What a nail-biter of a game. The Russian goal (Makarov) faced 57 or 58 shots while his team put up only 17. That goalie deserves a ton of credit for getting his team deep into OT before giving up a goal.

On an Islander note: Sundstrom was Zibanejad's linemate for most of OT until right before the goal.

I'm not necessarily a fan of the Swedish team (love the chef, though), but I was excited when they won. Fantastic hockey game.

Hey Older Isles Fans!!! During the glory years of the Isles did they hve attendance issues like they have today?

The image above is from the isles website and the photo is of the Stands during the 1984 Stanley Cup playoffs

Question: Were the Islanders selling out the Coliseum a lot of nights during the 80s and early 90s?

Thanksgiving Prayers for Islanders

This is simply a place where we can share our Thanksgiving prayers for our beloved team. What do we have to be thankful for? What prayer requests do we have for the remainder of the season? (Let's please refrain from praying for anything too awful to happen to any of the struggling Islanders.)

The "Moulstache" t-shirt. $5 from every purchase will be donated to prostate cancer research. Via the official NYI site. Unfortunately, there is no complimentary Jonathan Quick t-shirt.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't see that JW1970 had already posted this.

So this is more to ask a question for the LHH Universe: The Isles will be visiting the Wild on December 17th (A 7 PM Saturday night game). Would there be any interest in an Upper Midwest Isles get together at this game? Lemme know and we can organize if there is enough interest.

Night-shot-dl

The New York Islanders released today a rendering of what the new arena could potentially look like.

"What the rendering shows is a vision for what could exist right here on Long Island," Islanders Owner Charles Wang said. "This is just a possible look, but it is spectacular and would be a true destination spot for Nassau County and Long Island as a whole."

On Monday, August 1st, Nassau County residents will go to their regular polling places to vote on a referendum that would enable the county to bond for a new sports and entertainment complex.

"It is very exciting for the organization to offer fans a look into the future to see what the new building could possibly look like," Wang said. "Our approach all along has been to emulate elements from successful arenas like the Prudential Center in New Jersey and the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, and this is a very good representation of both. We look forward to giving Long Island residents an arena that they can be proud of for years to come."
