This Friday night, July 18th, a non-profit organization known as 53 Hours is organizing a memorial for the Jersey City Police Officer recently ambushed while responding to a fake 911 call during his shift. The Non Profit organization calls itself 53 Hours because a police officer pays the ultimate sacrifice every 53 hours in this country. 53 does not request any donation of time or money to participate in the memorial. 53 Hours asks that anyone wishing to observe the remembrance simply keep their porch light illuminated for a period of 53 hours beginning at sundown on Friday night. (A flame-less candle in the window may be used in lieu of the porch light).
I was hesitant to even write this and i hemmed and hawed for about an hour or so before i decided to post this but felt that since the community is pretty far reaching around the US and parts of Canada and even Europe, that some contributors may be interested in observing the remembrance.
I am aware that this may not be the appropriate site to post a such an article. This posting is not intended to start a political war or an argument about pro/anti police. I do not wish to start a firestorm or rub people the wrong way. It is simply a posting to let the LHH community know that many of us that contribute to this great site have family and/or friends that are police officers. Some of us maybe even know the police officers in our towns by their first names. A few of us are police officers here on LHH.
Below is a facebook link to the Jersey City Police Officer should you wish to find out more. I personally do not subscribe to any social media sites for the safety of myself and my family but those who do may be able to find out more information.
