Our Rookies .... how much do you like DeHann, Strome, Lee, etc???

With 13 games remaining in the season, where will our rookies sit?

According to NHL.com .. http://www.nhl.com/ice/rookies.htm?fetchKey=20142ALLSRSAll&viewName=summary&sort=points&pg=1

Currently our rookies are..

leader 1 - N McKinnon 68 GP 22 G 30 A

40th Calvin DeHaan 43 games 3 G 10 Ass

47th Anders Lee 9 games 6 g 4 A

50th Ryan Strome 24 GP 4G ^ A

51th Matt Donovan 40 GP 1 G 9 A

Looking over the stats, for all the rookies, our rookies rank right up there.

It's obvious that the top rookie pool is with the lightning. But considering GP, one would seriously wonder if Lee, Strome, Donovan and DeHaan had got a full season in if these stats would be altered. Dallas also had an awesome year for their rookies.

I don't think I ve been this excited about a number of rookies for a very long time. Sure, there's always one or two players you re looking forward to seeing, but this is a bumper crop.

After the No-Vember, there was very little for Islander fans. However (small blessings) injuries to (well just about everyone) has given Isles fans a chance to see a slew of rookies, who have for the most part at the minimum showed that they can play in the NHL.

I am soo looking forward to next season. All we need is a serviceable goalie. It would be nice for a 915 goalie, but with our fire power, if we can get anything over 900, we ll be golden.

I can see Lee and Strome hitting 45 pts next season. Donovan with 30 and Dehaan with another 25. Those are mostly going to be in addition to our current scoring.

So our 195 goals for this season should bump up by 5o 10 - 20 goals. That should equate to an extra 8 - 12 points .. if we can add even a .10 improvement in our goaltending (4- 6 points.. ) we re golden and back in the playoffs, and quite possibly not on the bubble either.

A lot of time over the past 30 years, these 'end of season games' were seriously sucky, and meant absolutely nothing. But this year, particularly, we re getting a preview of how dominant this team can be.

Loving our youth.
