Welcome to playoffs, now go home

Despite all the good feelings and accomplishents of the last month, last night was perhaps the most heartbreaking moment for Islanders fans since losing Game 7 in Toronto in 2002.
Knowing full well they needed to win and avoid the Penguins in the first round, the Islanders back stabbed their tortured fan base with a lifeless effort when everything was on the line.
The Islanders reminded their fans just how second rate their organization is. The players managed to fight and show great heart in getting them to clinch a playoff spot, but it was not enough.
By failing to provide the team with a legit backup goalie the Islanders FO failed. Now the Islanders are nothing more than a sacrifice for the Penguins to embarrass.

Simply getting to the playoffs was not good enough. Not when everyone knew a meetin was tantamount to a first round bye for Pittsburgh.

While the Rangers basically handed the Islanders the 7th spit with late season losses to Florida and Philly, the Islanders refused to accept their gift.

For the poor, tortured fan base in Brooklyn, the playoffs ate already over before they began. just like 2003, 2004 and 2007 the Islanders will show little evidence of a postseason berth.

The Islanders are 3-13 in their ladt 16 postseason gamesand have lost six straight at home.
