As the third period was in play last, we were discussing among the boys about Capuano's future. In a nut shell, if this guy isn't on the hot seat, then how do we expect to be concidered a legitamate organization? I know he doesn't have all the tools to be a really successful coach but, isn't this a professional sports franchise here? Then we went on to discussing how St Louis picked up Ken Hitchcock last year and he made them into one of the most dangerous teams in the league. How his old-fashioned style of coaching mixed with his experience and drive to win could have finally woken up our inexperienced roster and maybe lit a fire under their asses..... Very depressing to say the least.....
What was even more depressing was this.... If the Islanders were to fire Capuano either mid season or during the summer, it is set in stone that Doug Weight is a shoe-in for the job!!! Its almost a guarantee that there would be no other concideration given to another coach, even if well seasoned and experienced.... So what benefit would we really gain from Capuano's departure? How well could Weight coach these guys if it seems he's best friends with all of them off the ice? And How does a professional organization hire their coaching and managerial staff strictly on the principle that they are nice people?
The wasting of emotions continues. And for yet another season, I guess all you can say is.... Cas we're the f**king Islanders....
