I would like to know why Moulson is written in with pen on the first line from everyone. He doesnt have first line talent. I know he scores but the amount of ice time he gets on PP's and at the end of the periods and games, not to mention playing with JT he should score a lot. I like Moulson and he has put up numbers every year but i think the first line should be more for someone who helps JT. I kinda think he is hindering JT's career a bit for these reasons
1. He is an average skater
2. average stickhandler
3. average hockey sense
4. average passer/creativity
5. below average corner man
6. below below average checker/toughness
7. 90% of his goals are from the work of someone else.
8. never see him go coast to coast or even around someone with a move
9. doesn't carry puck into the zone well
I know everyone will argue that he scores but that isnt everything. The response I get is why break up a good thing, but a bottom five finish every year is not a good thing. Again I like Moulson and I am not blaming him for their losses, but when an if they do make the playoffs the games will get much more physical, and i think a lot of people will get sick of watching guys like Phianeuf knocking Tavares to the ice after every whistle and taking liberties with him while Moulson is there hitting them with his purse and blowing his rape whistle trying to protect him.
i personally would like to see Martin take his place and have him groomed as the next Gillies for these reasons
1. He will protect JT
2. He is a better corner man
3. he could create turnovers with defensemen knowing that he will be coming after them when the opposition has the puck in the defensive zone.
4. He will be harder to move in front of the net.
My feeling is Bailey and JT will be very creative together playing with confidence knowing Martin is protecting them. I also wouldnt mind seeing Ulstrom playing on the 1st line. He plays hard and goes into the corner well while being a pretty good stickhandler. Wouldnt mind seeing the lines like this
Moulson-Bailey-Boyes (playing on a second line in the NHL isn't so bad and with the money he makes he should be able to play with players other than JT, plus this could get Baileys confidence back at center.
Cizikas-Aucoin-Macdonald (Though i am hoping the Macdonald experiment ends soon)
