Islanders need to do right thing and have mercy on vets looking to win

After suffering their fifth straight loss with yet ANOTHER third period choke job, only the Capitals own fewer points than the hapless Islanders in the NHL who's only fight left in them is for the first pick in the 2013 NHL draft.

Since Garth Snow and Charles Wang have made it obvious that they have no plan to contend this season with the roster they have put on the ice, the Islanders need to do the right thing by the veterans they have wasting away on yet another fruitless season.

It's no secret that players would rather retire or quit altogether than come to Long Island, so the Islanders only hope with trades is to trade for players that are retired or ones that are desperate to reach the NHL.

Mark Streit, Evgeni Nabokov, Lubomir Visnofsky should all dealt ASAP to give these players a chance at finally reaching the Stanley Cup playoffs. All three players are nearing the end to their NHL career, and it would be a cruel, cruel fate for these hockey lifers to waste their final NHL days wasting away in front of a family of four at the NVMC.
