Islanders Activate Evgeni Nabokov, Brian Strait; Anders Nilsson to Bridgeport, Radek Martinek to IR

Why you no bring Lubo with you? - Bruce Bennett

This is a series of procedural updates that do not involve Ryan Strome, mostly.

The Great Goaltending Crisis of 2013 is over: Evgeni Nabokov is healthy (but still 38) again.

The New York Islanders announced a couple of roster moves today that relate to what they perceive to be ailing them: Goaltending and defense in the absence of Nabokov, Lubomir Visnovsky and Brian Strait.

The other problem they perceive, that of dried-up secondary scoring, was addressed earlier this week with the Bridgeport swap of Ryan Strome and Pierre-Marc Bouchard. However, you'll have to wait on Ryan Strome: He's not playing tonight.

To summarize:

But Capuano explained why they're not putting Strome in just yet -- and one has to wonder if there isn't just a tiny bit of "don't scratch a guy after he participated in the team's first win in 11 games, unless he took dumb penalties that hurt us" at play:

Full game preview to be up later. For now, that's your record keeping to remember this zany final day on the Western Death March 2013.
