st-Round Draft Picks of the Last 19 Years...Hit or Miss?

I admit I am not an NHL talent evaluator and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but as I was commenting on in the game thread from last night's ridiculous meltdown at MTS centre, I started thinking....maybe we are just horrible at evaluating talent? I know its not an easy job but scouts and general managers get paid tons of money to get it right....The last time, in my opinion, the Isles were worth any spit was 1993 so I started there and found the last 19 years of first round draft picks. How could they have gotten so many wrong? I mean, even a 50% success rate would probably be acceptable. I could not believe my eyes when I finally saw it in print right in front of me.

Brett Lindros (9th overall) We drafted the better Lindros. Yeah OK…..Even without the head injuries, not even an argument to be had here. Move along. :-)
Wade Redden (2nd overall) We know how this turned out. Floundered his way in Manhattan to a nice long run in the AHL.
Jean-Pierre Dumont (3rd overall) 214-309-523 in 822 games hardly does a 1st round pick make.
Roberto Luongo (4th overall) & Eric Brewer (5th overall) Yeah, Roberto was good, just not for us, because we were not patient enough. Eric Brewer - decent but 1st rounder?
 Michael Rupp (9th overall) Seriously? 9th overall………
Tim Connolly (5th overall), Taylor Pyatt (8th overall), Branislav Mezei (10th overall), & Kristian Kudroc (28th overall) Probably the worst waste in NHL history at a draft table. Take a look at these names. Wow, just wow……
Rick DiPietro (1st overall) & Raffi Torres (5th overall) Move along……
none We did still suck, didn’t we?
Sean Bergenheim (22nd overall) Career 3rd liner in the first round.
Robert Nilsson (15th overall) Used to aquire Ryan Smyth, who promptly said he didn’t want to play here. Another NHL big time bust.
Petteri Nokelainen (16th overall) Oh boy…..
Ryan O'Marra (15th overall) Gets even better, doesn’t it?
Kyle Okposo (7th overall) Jury still out, but at this point, shouldn’t he be showing us A LOT more to justify this selection?
none Wait, we DO still suck, right?
Josh Bailey (9th overall) Another jury out. I think Josh is a good player and like him, but 9th overall is a major reach.
John Tavares (1st overall) & Calvin de Haan(12th overall) Slam dunk of the decade. Even these clowns could not have messed this up.
Nino Niederreiter (5th overall) & Brock Nelson(30th overall) Very poorly mismanaged so I will give an incomplete here.
Ryan Strome (5th overall) Seems like a great #2 center. But as with anything, it remains to be seen. OHL to NHL a huge jump.
Griffin Reinhart (4th overall) See above.
