Revisting my "Niederreiter for Ekman-Larsson" Debate... *POLL*

A few months ago I proposed that the Islanders trade Nino Niederreiter to the Coyotes for Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

This would give us a young, developed defenseman who plays a shut down role and has growing offensive capabilities. The Coyotes are already full of defensemen for prospects and could use more young forwards in their system.

I asked some users on the Coyotes site, and they think we'd have to sweet the trade a little bit for something like this to occur.

We have discussed numerous times how badly the Islanders are in need of defensemen. OEL has played in the league for 2 seasons and is finding his footing as a top-4 defenseman with top-2 potential with some more time.

I propose the following trade:

NYI trade Nino Niederreiter and NYI's 2012 1st round pick for Oliver Ekman-Larsson and PHX's 2012 1st round pick.

Both teams get a young player they are in need of. The Islanders would drop down in the draft to the 16-20 spot while Phoenix would get a bump up to the top 5.
