Reeser Out 2-3 Weeks, Who's next?
I have been told that Dylan Reese is expected to be out 2-3 weeks with a knee injury, who do you think gets the call up?
I think it's about time that Wishart gets some time up top... I'm not too sure why he's been sewered all year but he had a good showing last year so, other than a sub-par pre-season, I don't see why he shouldn't get the call up. What are everyone's thoughts?

Matt Donovan is likely next. Although I'd love to see them re-acquire Andy Sutton from Edmonton. He wouldn't cost too much and would add the depth we need on the blue line.

Sutton and his suspensions can stay in Edmonton.
The guy’s always either hurt or suspended. We’ve ridden that roller coaster before, no need for it now.

I agree with you that it should be Wishart.
He at least has some NHL experience.
Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)
Would like to see Donovan
seems to be putting up better numbers than Wishart, but numbers can be deceiving. I really hope jurcina comes back but this is a good chance to see what the youngsters have to offer
Wishart is #5 on BP's D depth chart
at the start of the year, everyone thought he was an NHL Dman. Reese, Dehaan (IR) or Donovan depending whom you read, Ness, Wishart. BP actually has depth @ D this year.

Wishart sucks
remember?
but if things keep up, he may get a shot – Ness, Donovan are ahead of him
so are Katic & de Haan except for injuries
wow...
you’re so sure of yourself. Check Fornabaio’s chat from yesterday. Not that it will change your opinion, but it might give you more information… and you can change your meme to, “Wishart Sucks, no matter what anybody says”

Donovan seems to be the guy
Unless they go with Wishart’s NHL experience and big frame. Our injury troubles, yet again…
Donovan seems to be the guy *for me*
You read it wrong, Garik. Thank you, MattyMac.
Actually
I think you replied wrong. Garik didn’t reply to your comment-he started a new thread pointed at the original post. You replied to his comment as if it was directed at you. Miscommunication.

Your opinion despite you not knowing the extent of the injury.
Wow that’s useless.

Ooooo that was his source. lol. I knew it had to be something like that. If the islanders didn't even diagnose him yet it had to come from left field.
And his diagnosis was 2-3wks off. lol
What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

I think you're reading this wrong. jgimps is saying it was his opinion in the post above your original question.
That wasn’t me saying it was just my opinion.
Just a little tip. Next time "you've been told" by yourself and others what you "guess" is the extent of the injury, don't post it.
Just say something like “It looks like Reese will miss some time with his injury” or something like that. It’s still a guess, but far from “someone told me the diagnosis”.

I just saw that they say 4-6.
Either way, it wasn’t just a guess. Someone close to the situation told me that’s what they were expecting right after the game.
Someone close to the situation.
You’re full of ****, dude sorry. (And in the case you actually do have sources, well….you gotta provide some reason for us to have confidence you’re not pulling it out of your ass. Failed to do so here)

Katic
i wish he was healthy… he showed some skills last year the aggressive playmaking , puckmoving defender that we need to kick staios/eaton/matttau to the curb
I don't think Donovan will get the call up
Not because of his play, but because of his inexperience. A lineup consisting of two D rookies with a grand total of 1 NHL game played seems a bit bold.
I’m also not keen on the thought of depleting a finally winning Bridgeport roster.
The Isles may be in the market for a D rental. Who would have thought of that only one month ago?

nothing wrong with a few young mobile capable D
the Devils keep using folks like that with success
get ready for max Streit, Amac, Staios & Eaton
So the answer is definitely
MOAR MOTTUA!!!

Wishart and Gentile
With Ness returning to BPT. that would be my call. Unless Jurcina is ready for thursday. Then scratch Gentile. Wishart is the most ready, and the one they can give more than 14 minutes to under duress. they need to hold off on the question marks (as much as possible) until they can establish a more stable environment in the NHL.
Gentile is the wildcard in this. He’s a little more mature and would be making the turbo jump from the E to A to the N… but he has size and physicality. He’s got some of TEH GRITZ as well…
Please do not leave Ness, or bring Donovan into this world of SHIT!

@JPinVA
Reese is out 4-6wks with a left MCL sprain. Your "sources" were a bit off. lol
I’d like to see Wishart or Donovan. Wishart given how well he played last year for us and Donovan to see where he stands for next year with the team.
What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

I am so confused. Can you describe your source?
Because his intial diagnosis was a couple weeks off. I’m not saying your source is horrible since I don’t know it, but if the islanders haven’t given a diagnosis on Reese yet, it’s likely they haven’t made a diagnosis on Reese yet. Example: Reese hurt, your source says 2-3wks, isles don’t list anywhere until the next day that Reese is out for 4-6wks with an MCL sprain. It could have been a tear that took him out the rest of the year, it could have been a sprain that cost him a month(as it looks), it could have been a charlie horse that cost him a game. We didn’t know and taking “guesses”(don’t know who your source is) isn’t the best thing to do because it makes you look foolish or like a “hockey analyst Dr”. I know that likely wasn’t your point, but if your source was an ex hockey player or doctor or trainer that is not the isles trainer or a Dr working with Reese, it’s absolutely useless and likely bad information. And even if it turns out correct it was just a guess anyway. And as it turned out, it was off multiple weeks.
What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

My source is a player. And what I mean when I say we’ll see how long it actually takes for him to get back is that the Islanders are probably managing expectations. Meaning they don’t want to say that he’ll be back next week even if there’s an 80% chance that he will (This is just an example, I’m not trying to say that there’s an 80% chance that he’s coming back soon)..
I’m also not trying to say that he’s going to come back in 2-3 weeks either, that’s just what I was told IMMEDIATELY after the game. I’m not sure what happened between then and when they released that he would be out for 4-6 but obviously something was done or figured out or something came to light.

Managing expectations would go the other way, though- the Isles would if anything garner an advantage from minimizing the amount of time the Isles will be without their popular top pairing defenseman, not from extending it. The Isles want fans to have more hope regarding a playoff push, not less.

What you heard immediately after the game was in all likelihood little more than an educated guess. One from someone close to or on the team as you state, but a guess nonetheless.
