Kirill Kabanov Hurt in Sound Tigers' 1st loss; Next: Springfield Saturday

Kabanov had surgery Friday in Worcester and will be re-evaluated Monday. - Mike Stobe

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers suffered their first loss of the season -- and worse, they lost Kirill Kabanov too. Saturday night they play in Springfield

We don't know how bad it is yet, so all we can do is worry: Kirill Kabanov left Friday night's game in Worcester with a cut to the wrist. IPB has AHL Live limited video of the sequence, where you suspect Kabanov suffered a cut from his opponent's skate.

UPDATE: The Sound Tigers say he had surgery last night for the cut on his wrist, and he's expected to make a full recovery. No timetable. Re-evaluated Monday. No details, but hopefully it something more like laceration/wound management rather than things needing reattaching and such.

Aside from that burning top story, the game was a clunker: A 5-1 loss to Worcester, who are also Sunday's matinee opponent.

That schedule and injury pileup are nothing new for the Sound Tigers. Now they just have to adjust to one more wrinkle.

The Kabanov injury forced some tinkering Friday night, which Michael Fornabaio reports resulted in a line of Brock Nelson, Matt Watkins and Brandon DeFazio, to follow up Colin McDonald's line of Casey Cizikas and Nino Niederreiter.

Tonight they play again at 7 p.m. in Springfield. Fornabaio also reported a blow to Nathan McIver after his fight, so we'll see what results today. With three games in three nights, there's not a whole lot of time to horse around.
