Morrow said the search for seasoned help, especially on defense, is a tough one, not just for the Islanders. Morrow, who was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame on Saturday and has served as the pro scouting director since 1993, is on the hunt for veterans to target over the summer as free agents.
"It's almost recruiting now," he said. "You don't just identify who you'd like to sign; you have to try and convince them to come to your team.

That doesn't sound promising
At this point I’d be happy with severely overpaying for a top defender or else the vicious cycle will continue

Time to send Suter some airplane tickets and a free month long stay at the marriot near NVMC for June 2nd to July 2nd.
What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?
3 more years in the same building...
given the average career is 5 years, it will be difficult to say the least to get an established top UFA D to come to long Island. As the team improves, depth increases, and that 3 year count drops to 2 years, 1 year, 0 years…the UFA’s will sign. A 500. team has a better chance than a sub-par team, and a 90 point team has a very good chance b/c the top 3rd of league is pretty much even @ above 100 points per season, and a star UFA is capable of adding 5 to 10 points.
