Ok just returned from the hospital....
… where my Grandma is recovering from Islander Hip. Being out on the Island means being able to watch the game. The only other time i’ve been able to watch a game was against the Preds. So if the Isles lose again with me watching tonight, my eyeballs will avoid the team for the rest of the season as tough it was the plague.

I git this damn thing to watch Islanders games and also all the rest, but i hate it when they have away telecasts for a home game. I can’t stand listening to the Carolina play by play.
The JT line hasn't had many shifts so far

Seriously, this lament is a old as the sport itself. Bad teams happen to look bad more often than good ones. Fans always look for patterns to explain when they’re unhappy.

I'm not gonna lie...I don't watch many other teams..
But I know that the good teams beat the teams they should beat or they wouldn’t be a good team…The bottom line is the Isles play their best against the better teams…The teams they are emotionally invested in they don’t seem to play their best…That’s what I noticed and I watch every single game…I’m calling it as I see it…

Really, his absence is what allows them to wheel and provide multiple looks on the same shift. He doesn’t have the mobility to do that, but Nielsen and Parenteau do.

But someone actually wrote a list of the [top 25 players in the NHL under 25] … can you believe John Tavares was not on that list? Are you kidding me? Now think about that: We’re just talking about players UNDER 25. When he was criticized on it, he came up with some kind of goofball numerical response.
I don’t know who this housebound agrophobe is, but I suggest he open the shades in his room, get a little light in there, and stop playing around with computer-based calculations.

i remember paffly on sports center in 1997 or 98 (i was 9 years old) and he had 3 hat tricks in a row and was looking for number 4 which would have been an nhl record. Just a random memory

Zigmund Palffy had three goals on Sunday but could not enjoy his first career hat trick because the Islanders lost the game to Winnipeg. Tonight, though, everyone wanted to take their hats off to Palffy, and he was happy to receive the adulation.
For the second consecutive game, Palffy scored a hat trick, but this time the Islanders made it count, beating Boston, 5-3, in a wide-open, undisciplined game at Nassau Coliseum.
Palffy became only the second Islander player to score hat tricks in consecutive games. Mike Bossy did it twice — on Nov. 8 and Nov. 11, 1980, and again on Jan. 13 and Jan. 17, 1981. Mario Lemieux of Pittsburgh, the leading scorer in the National Hockey League, is the only other player who has scored three goals or more in consecutive games this season.

Something to look into
if you’re going to do that. According to BTN’s line combo page, last season, those two played like 75% an 80% of their shifts with JT. This year, Moulson is like 93% and PAP is like 50%. In KO and PAP cases, both were playing with Nielsen who as we know gets bad zone starts and is a corsi monster…so it stands to reason that their corsi away from JT is a little better.

just gave JT some praise, saying he is one of the best players the Islanders have ever had. Putting him up there with Dynasty, LaFontaine….
I do not know if you can say he was better then the best Islanders, but certainly we can say he is the game changer we have not had in a very long long time.
Oh and we were in 11th place for about 3 seconds until Montreal won tonight.

JT is great…and KO and Matty are playing great along side, But eventually the fact we have no one else scoring is going to burn us. Grabner needs to learn how to skate with the puck instead of faster than the puck. We need to send Rolston down, bring up Ullstrom, move Nino with Grabs…and wala…secondary scoring, 4 good lines.

At long last, the steady build of the New York Islanders from expansion doormat to surprise semifinalist to annual contender reaches the promised land: Buoyed by a late season trade for Butch Goring that gave the team the depth up the middle GM Bill Torrey had been seeking, the Islanders knock off the Philadelphia Flyers in six games.
The victory justified the faith in coach Al Arbour who guided them from their second season to their first Stanley Cup seven seasons later. The Islanders would not be the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup, but they would be the only one capable of a dynasty.

May 21, 1981: This time it was much easier. After falling to "only" 91 points in the 1979-80 season, the Islanders returned to their division title tradition, piling up 110 points -- a whole 13 points over second-place Philadelphia.
Between the quarterfinals (where they beat the upstart Oilers in six games) and the finals, the Islanders reeled off eight consecutive wins -- with a four-game sweep of archrival Rangers in between. As they defeated the Minnesota North Stars in five games for their second Cup, their goal difference in the final was a combined +10.

May 16, 1982: Another year, another landslide title. The Islanders won the Patrick Division by a whopping 26 points over the second-place Rangers, and were seven points clear of their nearest competition for the President's Trophy, the still-not-quite-ripe Edmonton Oilers.
A first-round scare against the Pittsburgh Penguins turned in the Isles' favor thanks to John Tonelli's heroics, and a true dynasty was on its way: Past the Rangers in six games, then an eight-game sweep of the Quebec Nordiques and Vancouver Canucks to run away with the Stanley Cup.

The Edmonton Oilers' steadily rising challenge for league supremacy took them all the way to the finals for the first time, where the New York Islanders summarily dispatched them in a four-game sweep. For the Islanders, the Dynasty was secured. For the Oilers, it was a powerful lesson in where talent ends and the demands of playoff hockey begin.
Four years, four Cups, 16 consecutive playoff series wins (a record that would grow to 19 until the rematch with the Oilers the following year). Mike Bossy scored 60 goals yet again, and Wayne Gretzky became acquainted with Billy Smith's crease.
