BOB didnt because

BOB is hoping for a shutout from BOB but If BOB had to pick a FIG BOB would pick Moulson because BOB likes the Beer !

BOB doesnt want to start a fight or any hatred.

Well.. BOB senses that Islander fans will throw beers at BOB and hate BOB if BOB predicts that BOB gets a shutout at 32 SOG’s but thats what BOB is predicting. Or BOB sees Moulson getting the FIG on BOB. BOB cant stop them all.

I spoke with Ed Snider and asked why Orange and Black

and did it have anything to do with the old original NHL Logo being Black and Orange?

He replied with

“Our marketing Department wanted to go with RED originally because it is the first color you notice when you look at colors (according to him) but other teams already had that with Detroit Chicago and Montreal so we went with Orange (Which is near Red) and Black. & you know we got nervous because after we submitted our colors to the League we realized that the NHL Logo was Orange and Black and we called the league and they said it was ok.

I doubt there will be much roster movement (waivers/demotions) during the dad’s trip…for instance, Pandolfo’s dad is on the trip…can’t see him being scratched/waived.

Craig Carton kills me. He did some afternoon drive-time on NJ 101.5 FM, and got in big trouble for a contretemps with acting governor Richard Codey. Before that I think he was on WIP sports radio in Philadelphia. He’s toned down over the years… he actually got the sack from WIP, IIRC it was because of comments about Eric Lindros – and if you get the sack on Philly sports radio, you know you’ve gotta tone it down.

Al Arbourism that was relayed by Pat Flatley on his Isles HOF night.

“One of my first games, I came over the blueline and made a drop pass. The drop pass didn’t work out that well — the pass was intercepted from someone on the other club.

Next morning in practice Al comes up and says, ‘Hey Pat, that was a nice drop pass. You like that play?’ And I go, ‘Yeah’ — I didn’t think it was that bad, too bad it didn’t work out that time.

So Al goes: ‘Pat, on this team Mike Bossy makes drop passes. Pat Flatley? He gets it deep. Do we understand each other?’

I said, ‘Yep.’"

Its an objective opinion that I am sure you would find someone on NHL Live or NHL Network say.

“Giroux getting in a fight ~ What is he doing ? This makes as much sense as Crosby Fighting or Stamkos Fighting ~ You are an Elite goal scorer dont risk breaking a hand. thats what guys Like Hartnell, Rinaldo, or Shelley are there for.”

Can you picture that comment on NHL Network ? I can.

Are we going to even think about considering Hartnell a better hockey player than Giroux? lol

He’s the 3rd best offensive forward on that line.

What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

by OzzyFan on Jan 19, 2012 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

I have no problem with top scorers sticking up for themselves or others on their team or fighting to spark something. Islanders have been the better team all game, Giroux was trying to kick his team into action.

Also. Why would Hartnell fight on that play? Giroux and Reese were trading shots for a few minutes. It was a personal thing between the two. You dont toss in a mid weight guy like Hartnell for a personal fight, no matter who the “star” is. And the way that fight went, no one was in danger of breaking a hand in that one.

Hyka'n it up a notch.

"I have no problem with top scorers sticking up for themselves or others on their team or fighting to spark something. "

You just don’t because the worst can happen:

Chris Stewart: Missed 21 games (broken left hand).
Taylor Hall: Missed the last 17 games of the regular season (ankle injury).
Sheldon Souray: Missed the last 29 games of the regular season (broken hand).

What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

If they weren’t so busy laughing at you (or just so eager to have you live up to their dumb Flyer fan stereotype), I’m sure they’d have banned you by now as well.

When Toronto Fans come to Philadelphia and Fans Threaten to steal their license plates so that they cannot go across the boarder and I commented that that was wrong ~ And they said that I made them look ridiculous.

When I made a comment that the then Tampa Bay Player Simone Gagne had a Wide open goal Stolen by then AHL Call Up Reimer and said it was a great save I was blasted by everyone on BSH for Hating on Gagne (When it was the #1 play of the day on NHL Network) and I told PPP and they said that I made them look ridiculous.

Yeah I didnt get along with them and Its a shame that the FLYERS BSH site is run by people that I don’t agree with or don’t care for when its my Favorite team.

And I can believe the “popular clique” thing. After the “staios-talbot” hit, they had a thread about “revenge” and like 20-25% of the people there wanted someome to hurt one of our star players or have shelley/rinaldo jump staios and get a suspension for retribution. That’s some great thinking. lol

This probably is not my place, but I this seems to be a mischaracterization of the discussions

You can find the threads directly related to Staios-Talbot, here, here, and here. Here is the game preview, where only occasional and frequently irrational poster andyb makes it a point to go after an Islanders star player. The overwhelming majority were in favor of retaliating on the scoreboard (myself included) and/or having someone fight Staios and end it, though that plan went out the bag as soon as he was scratched.

I do grant you though folks like andyb who only stop by every now and then and are not the greatest discussion contributors mentioning going after the star players, but the overwhelming majority of regular BSHers were either in favor of no response and/or just having someone fight Staios.

No worries, Justin

Thanks for adding in. Every community has their more extreme members who color the discussion.

I think from the Isles side there are several levels of surprise: 1) That people think it was a clear “elbow” when the video just isn’t conclusive; 2) That the league and refs agreed, but it’s still treated like a 100% certainty; and 3) That anyone but Talbot himself should “retaliate” when Staios is hardly an enforcer and Talbot is hardly a finesse guy.

Moulson and Parenteau/Okposo aren't that great

They’re only good because of Tavares. Look at other NHL first lines: Anaheim, Detroit, Boston, Rangers, San Jose, etc. even Edmonton. They all have more than 1 good player on their first line. Moulson doesn’t do much other than take what JT gives him and shoot it towards the net.

Isles Reading

Islanders Schedule

1979-80

May 24, 1980: Tonelli to Nystrom. At long last, the steady build of the New York Islanders from expansion doormat to surprise semifinalist to annual contender reaches the promised land: Buoyed by a late season trade for Butch Goring that gave the team the depth up the middle GM Bill Torrey had been seeking, the Islanders knock off the Philadelphia Flyers in six games.

The victory justified the faith in coach Al Arbour who guided them from their second season to their first Stanley Cup seven seasons later. The Islanders would not be the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup, but they would be the only one capable of a dynasty.

1980-81

May 21, 1981: This time it was much easier. After falling to "only" 91 points in the 1979-80 season, the Islanders returned to their division title tradition, piling up 110 points -- a whole 13 points over second-place Philadelphia.

Between the quarterfinals (where they beat the upstart Oilers in six games) and the finals, the Islanders reeled off eight consecutive wins -- with a four-game sweep of archrival Rangers in between. As they defeated the Minnesota North Stars in five games for their second Cup, their goal difference in the final was a combined +10.

1981-82

May 16, 1982: Another year, another landslide title. The Islanders won the Patrick Division by a whopping 26 points over the second-place Rangers, and were seven points clear of their nearest competition for the President's Trophy, the still-not-quite-ripe Edmonton Oilers.

A first-round scare against the Pittsburgh Penguins turned in the Isles' favor thanks to John Tonelli's heroics, and a true dynasty was on its way: Past the Rangers in six games, then an eight-game sweep of the Quebec Nordiques and Vancouver Canucks to run away with the Stanley Cup.

1982-83

May 17, 1983: Not so fast, whipper-snappers. The Edmonton Oilers' steadily rising challenge for league supremacy took them all the way to the finals for the first time, where the New York Islanders summarily dispatched them in a four-game sweep. For the Islanders, the Dynasty was secured. For the Oilers, it was a powerful lesson in where talent ends and the demands of playoff hockey begin.

Four years, four Cups, 16 consecutive playoff series wins (a record that would grow to 19 until the rematch with the Oilers the following year). Mike Bossy scored 60 goals yet again, and Wayne Gretzky became acquainted with Billy Smith's crease.
