wow... like we went through a time warp by whizzing ourselves around the sun and going back in time...
nothing got done then... nothing now... maybe the guys who paid off the cow will get their hands on it
from newsday
"Mangano is preparing a Request for Qualifications, or RFQ, for the Uniondale site, Rabinowitz, who is co-vice chairman of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council, said in an interview after the council's meeting Tuesday.
more from newsday:
"Kevan Abrahams (D-Freeport), the county legislature's minority leader, said the plan sounded encouraging, adding that he supports Hub development if it's not "at the taxpayers' expense." (he wants santa clause... he had an asian santa and they blew him off)
The news comes nearly six years after Islanders owner Charles Wang and developer Scott Rechler won then-County Executive Thomas Suozzi's Request for Proposals. Their Lighthouse project died when the Town of Hempstead deemed it too dense. (i think others were more dense than the project)
Garden City developer Jan Burman, however, said if a new RFQ included an arena, the same issues would remain, such as the high cost of structured parking and the advantage Wang might have if he bid. (wouldn't want wang with an advantage... better he loses 20 million a year until he's collecting food stamps)"
it really sounds to me like everyone from the newsday writers, the politicians, the developers... that no one really thinks anything will happen but they have to pretend and go through the motions
