Aside from Steven Stamkos in the RFA pool. There is Shea Weber.
Highest salary in the NHL: Lecavalier & Luongo at 10 million per. Ovechkin, Malkin & Crosby make 9 million per.
D-Men like Lidstrom, Bouwmeester and the elite class make from 6-8 million per (Duncan Keith at 8)
Will Stamkos get 9-10 million per? If that's the case is Shea Weber worth 7-8 million per season?
If there has ever been 2 players to be stolen from another team through an offer sheet, this is the year. (Stamkos will sign with Tampa in my opinion)
If the Islanders signed Weber to an offer sheet of say 6 years at 45 million (8,8,8,7,7,7) Would Nashville match it? OR Would they take; 2 1st round picks, 1 second, and one 3rd rounder as compensation?
1- Would you take a shot and sign him to an offer sheet? (Anything over 7.5 million per season and you give up 4 #1 picks in 4 years)
I would take the shot at an offer sheet of 7.5 million average over 6 years... and give up 2-#1's, 1-#2 and 1 third rounder.
2-Do you try and trade for him instead? If so what would be your trade proposal?
My proposal: I'd let them pick from either Comeau or Bailey... Then include DeHaan, Wishart + next years #1 pick. (If they wanted ONE prospect forward besides Nino & Strome, i'd give them whomever they wanted to sweeten the deal)
More RFA D-men: Doughty, Bogosian, Luke Schenn.
