John Tavares' highlight goal begins at about 1:00 of this video in Canada's win over Norway. The announcer's reaction ("Ay-yay-ay") is pretty appropriate.

Usually 200' x 85' for NHL
And 200′ × 100′ (really a bit over 98’) for IIHF.

He is gonna be a GREAT PLAYER
One of the best players in the NHL over the next 10 years and he’ll be playing many (hopefully all of them for the Islanders).
Sweet Goal.

Whoa!
Wait one second, a poke check breakaway and finish from his own blue line? Did we even see that kind of speed all season? Also, a penalty was going to be called on the play (refs arm goes up off to goalie’s left) because he was getting hooked and hacked). Pretty classy of him not to pull a Louganis on the play.

....or more like, "JJJJJOHHHHHNNNNNNNN!"
LOL
Left behind for (what seems like an) eternity (to all of us) on Long Island – but just one offseason…..
Breakaway speed
I thought of that, then muttered quietly to myself, “I guess it is just Norway.” But I’ll take it.

Norway
That’s what I was thinking…but I felt like attribution of speedlessness to an entire country was mean…I mean Zuccarello right? Is he playing for them?

no he is not
i believe he broke his wrist or something in an AHL playoff game (got it caught in one of the camera holes) and he had to have some surgery done

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. JT skating by players, damn his skating is improving.
Can’t wait for next year.
Proud Islanders fan, the organization that iced the greatest team to ever play the game, whom won 4 consecutive cups. I'm bleeding Blue and Orange.
Let's go Islanders! Beep...Beep...Beep.Beep.Beep.
Datsyuk IS the best player in the nhl
In the 2 games I've seen (not this one.....)
JT has demonstrated just why he’s going to be an All-Star and overall (super)star for the foreseeable future (again, hopefully in LI, but knowing the integrity this person possesses, I’m more optimistic he’ll stay put for most, if not all, of his career, as will Grabs, Matty Mo and Franzie…..) Dominating the play when he’s on the ice, and we’ve ALL seen the same sort of thing in his time with the Islanders…..I suspect that JT’s trajectory will be a LOT like Pat Lafontaine’s (hopefully minus the rash of concussions!) in terms of point totals and style – but possibly even similar to Trots, with any luck…..
....I think he's been subject to MUCH less impedence....
…..less of the seemingly perpetual harassment to which he’s been subjected in the NHL, allowing him to REALLY break out on a consistent basis…..so in effect, nothing BUT that aspect has changed in this setting…..
Also
I think he is the 2nd line center right? Spezza/Nash have been the first grouping. Probably drawing weaker competition…also, playing against the likes of Norway and stuff can’t hurt. Not to diminish how he’s played, because you can only play who’s in front of you and he’s among the league leaders (if not the league leader). Makes you wonder what next year will be like if our line 2 picks up where it left off.

yeah
Actually, Clutterbuck-Zajac-Ladd is their checking line, playing against the opposition’s best forwards most of the time. Then Neal-Spezza-Nash seems to be their go-to line in terms of creating offense in key-situations, or at least seems to be the line the opposition’s best checkers prefer to key on. As they’ve gone with 13 forwards lately, the rest of the ice time has been distributed pretty evenly among the other 7 forwards with Duchene being the guy most likely to be rotated into Nash’s line. JT’s seen his ice time cut in a couple of 3rd periods, also against Norway, and has averaged 12:33 TOI total thus far. And most of it definitely not against the opposition’s best players and what that means when playing against Norway is pretty clear I guess. The two guys he beat on that breakaway against Norway actually were one forward used as a defenseman and one defenseman from the Swedish 2nd division.
So, as you say, it’s not to diminish his contribution, as he can only play who’s in front of him. But really, it’s totally inappropriate to evaluate his game or even form expectations based on this tournament. If you watch him it’s pretty clear he’s struggling on the bigger rink, which obviously doesn’t suit his natural game at all. It is fun to watch what he still manages to do, but really, that’s about it.
Second in points and goals in the tournament
While not getting top line TOI or PP time. He seems to be “struggling” nicely. I sure hope Nino looks as good on his wing as Skinner has. Maybe this is the result you get if you give him top line wingers.
NOWHERE Nearly enough defensemen to last through the injury bug
Did JT attended the Grabner clinic before the Worlds?
Pretty goal … it gave me flashbacks to a cross between Grabner … and Bryan Trottier spliting the defense with 2 guys on his back.
Here’s hoping for three 40 goal scorers next season, accented by a 15 goal 70 point welcome back for Streiter …
Hey … It’s the offseason. I can dream!

Simple Solution to increasing JT's speed - bigger rinks
and slower opposition, but what is this I keep hearing about superior European skating skills?
