Important Note Conspiciously Absent from Diane Yatauro's Interview

Diane Yatauro is not running for re-election this year. This is important b/c she has nothing to lose by being critical of the plan. While the Dems floated opposition to the referendum date when the plan was first announced through Deneberg and some of their surrogates on Facebook, it didn't really seem to gain much traction in the eyes of the public. And considering everyone who is in the know knew they picked the date to control voter turnout and hence ensure victory, it was a move to test public opposition.

So having someone seemingly as important as the minority leader float this is nothing more then a trial run to see if it sticks. If it does, you might see more Dems push the meme. But if there becomes opposition to it, there is no real political fallout as Yatauro is no up for re-election and all the other Dems can quickly distance themselves from the critique.

Once again, I encourage all Islander fans to take a wait and see approach. There will be a lot of people trying to define the narrative right now, but until important things such as the financial details are released and NIFA officially weighs in, everything else is just noise and should be ignored.
