Paraphrasing: "Dale Hunter, I think 21 games is one of those suspensions that was too much. I mean, he hit Turgeon after the whistle, but if I recall right, Pierre didn't even suffer a long-term injury on the play."
>>Scott Laughlin on XM NHL Home Ice today.
Um, not quite. Today is the anniversary of Hunter's assault a full three seconds after Turgeon scored the goal (off a Hunter giveaway) that iced the series. Mike Brophy agreed with Laughlin.
I'm not sure I get some people. Eighteen years later, it's still one of the most cowardly acts of petulant and dirty "play" I've ever seen.

First off as not an Islanders fan: that was a hell of a fight.
Secondly, Laughlin is awful. Every time I flip on Home Ice after work I rememeber why I don’t normally tune in.

Why would he even say “right after the whistle” if he had no idea? This is not difficult video to find.

What are YOU guys doing here!?
Just kidding, I like it when non-Isles fans comment on LHH.

Every time I see highlights of this I hate Dale Hunter even more
Look at it this way: I wasn’t even born at the time of that bullshit hit, but I wanna fight Dale Hunter (not saying I’d win but still). I also can’t believe the NHL made a commercial about Hunter scoring the series clincher the next year, as some sort of “redemption.”
A coda on this
Don Maloney, just 11 games into the following season:
Among the players off to disappointing starts are forwards Benoit Hogue, Marty McInnis, Brad Dalgarno, Travis Green and David Volek. Among the struggling defensemen are Scott Lachance and Dennis Vaske. Among the minor league players doing well at Salt Lake City are Sandy Smith, Zigmund Palffy and Dan Plante.
Without prompting, Maloney added: “How long can we go on with Pierre Turgeon playing like this?” Turgeon, the star of the team, signed an $11 million contract for this season and three more. He has 4 goals and 11 assists in 11 games.
Ass.

Haha
15 pts in 11 games…that prorates out to like 112 points. Turgeon=Bust. We should have traded him for a guy with heart…er ahem, uh.
Sucks that for the next 20 years were pining for a guy to crack 90.
