Streit Done For The Season
The Islanders made it official, as Mark Streit was not cleared by doctors and will not play for the rest of the season. It also appears as though he will not play in the world championships.

Apologies for double tweeting this via the LHH account. I’m using my laptop mouse and sometimes it double clicks when I just want to click once.
"you may be discounting the fact that he's AWESOME." ~ Pauly C stating the obvious about Moulson.
Contributor to Lighthouse Hockey not sure if I'm the Sniper or the Enforcer.
No big loss at this point.
Probably better that he sits the last 9 games, that way he’ll be at 110% for the start of next season!
The New York Islanders....they make opposing goalies look gooooood.
Hardly surprising
Would have liked to see him get in a few games this year but I wasn’t holding my breath. Being out of the playoff race there is no reason to rush him back. I’m curious how much of a difference he would have made for us had he been healthy this year. Hockey, as far as I know, doesn’t have the equivelant stat of WAR (wins above replacement) that baseball has but if we did I would imagine Streit would have a pretty high one. Basically WAR calculates using a wide variety of different stats how wins a particular player gives you over a replacement level player. Taking into consideration Streit’s plus/minus over his last two years with the Isles relative to other players on the team and his point production I think he has made a big difference for us both defensivly and offensivly. Add to that his work on special teams, especially how important he is on the power-play and you are looking at one of, if not the most valuable player for us in his two seasons here.
Agreed. Especially wondering how much of a difference he would have made considering how many injuries and how far we went into the defensive depth department this year.
Proud Islanders fan, the organization that iced the greatest team to ever play the game and won 4 straight cups. Best overall player in the nhl right now=Pavel Datsyuk.
I'm also an optimistic Knicks fan, pessimistic Mets fan, and a happy Jets fan.
