As a writer for In Lou We Trust, the Devils’ SBN site, I don’t always have nice things to say about the Islanders. Today, I want to commend them for taking part in a cause that I find extremely worthwhile.
On February 26, 2011, the New York Islanders will be playing the Washington Capitals. The Islanders are working with the Patchogue Rotary Club to provide their members, friends and families a special night while raising funds for Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck. Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is dedicated to providing recreational opportunities to physically and mentally challenged children in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The link below will take you to a spot where you can order discounted tickets for $65, and the ticket price includes a pregame buffet at the LI Marriott. A portion of each ticket sale will go to support Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck.
I know the tickets might be a little more costly than Islanders tickets go for on StubHub or even Ticketmaster, so I understand if one would not want to purchase tickets at the discounted cost to support the camp.
That said, maybe instead of buying a beer and nachos at the next game you could contribute to a very worthy group that may not benefit you directly but surely benefits a friend or family member. A link for contributions is below.
That’s my pitch. I will be among the Islander faithful for one night against the Caps that evening and I hope you are too.
