I just saw an old friend who happens to be a Rags fan...

Man, he was suck a dick which was a surprise because he wasnt always this way…He was one of the only rags fans I knew that I was happy for when they won the Cup…I was there at the old Sgt Peppers bar in Commack..He went on and on with the Kansas City jokes and that they will never be in a Winter Classic…He is on his high horse because they are playing so well…He doesnt care if they leave NY because there is no rivalry anymore, that they are inconsequential…The thing that bothered me is he used to be one of the Rags fans that wasn’t such a dick…It was disappointing to me that he doesnt care if the Isles leave NY…I dont know why it bothered me so much but it did…I thought even Rags fans would be hoping they stay…Fuck em all!

after seeing that rivalry first hand this year (yes it's still a rivalry)

How could anybody want that to end?

That was the most unique sporting experience of my life. does that moron know that that isn’t something everybody has?

"We owe him a lot more than he owes us at this point. He's been stellar all year. He still gave us a chance to win this one, and we've got to find a way."

I agree. Its disheartening to think that true Ranger fans just dont give a shit.

But if you think about it…There arent that many Isles fans that even give a shit. We do have the lowest attendance every year. This team needs to start winning and bring back the excitement and legitimacy.

looked like about 16,000 people gave a shit when I was there.

He was just being a typical asshole Raggies fan.

I just hope this team can make a statement. Make the playoffs. Lets Go Islanders!

.898 save percentage this year means he should stop reading and practice goaltending more. :-)

He does seem pretty smart, or at minimum is a good talker.

What do you mean they won 4 cups in a row? Is that possible?

I got the same cut Couturier got from a slapshot

I guess that spot on the helmet sucks. His was arguably worse, but I guess the guys in my league don’t shoot as hard as Timmonen.

I went down to block a shot…I guess pretty early, and a low slapper hit me. Got up right away, which really surprised people. I think a lot of times, you really just don’t want to believe you’re hurt.

You should've seen her face. It was the exact same look my father gave me when I told him I wanted to be a ventriloquist.

i gotta say...

I’m a fan of Lundqvist. the guy is really a class act. he plays guitar, has a great fashion sense, is respectful to everyone, and plays his heart out every night. how can you not love him?…enjoyed the torts rant after the 1st period vs the blues, hartnell continues to prove how much of a d-bag he really is, maxine is still a big girl, bryzgalov is pretty entertaining, the more i watch simmonds the more i dig him, and it’s clear torts hates avery.

i liked how they ended the episode with Midnight City by M83.

Isles Reading

Islanders Schedule

1979-80

May 24, 1980: Tonelli to Nystrom. At long last, the steady build of the New York Islanders from expansion doormat to surprise semifinalist to annual contender reaches the promised land: Buoyed by a late season trade for Butch Goring that gave the team the depth up the middle GM Bill Torrey had been seeking, the Islanders knock off the Philadelphia Flyers in six games.

The victory justified the faith in coach Al Arbour who guided them from their second season to their first Stanley Cup seven seasons later. The Islanders would not be the first expansion team to win the Stanley Cup, but they would be the only one capable of a dynasty.

1980-81

May 21, 1981: This time it was much easier. After falling to "only" 91 points in the 1979-80 season, the Islanders returned to their division title tradition, piling up 110 points -- a whole 13 points over second-place Philadelphia.

Between the quarterfinals (where they beat the upstart Oilers in six games) and the finals, the Islanders reeled off eight consecutive wins -- with a four-game sweep of archrival Rangers in between. As they defeated the Minnesota North Stars in five games for their second Cup, their goal difference in the final was a combined +10.

1981-82

May 16, 1982: Another year, another landslide title. The Islanders won the Patrick Division by a whopping 26 points over the second-place Rangers, and were seven points clear of their nearest competition for the President's Trophy, the still-not-quite-ripe Edmonton Oilers.

A first-round scare against the Pittsburgh Penguins turned in the Isles' favor thanks to John Tonelli's heroics, and a true dynasty was on its way: Past the Rangers in six games, then an eight-game sweep of the Quebec Nordiques and Vancouver Canucks to run away with the Stanley Cup.

1982-83

May 17, 1983: Not so fast, whipper-snappers. The Edmonton Oilers' steadily rising challenge for league supremacy took them all the way to the finals for the first time, where the New York Islanders summarily dispatched them in a four-game sweep. For the Islanders, the Dynasty was secured. For the Oilers, it was a powerful lesson in where talent ends and the demands of playoff hockey begin.

Four years, four Cups, 16 consecutive playoff series wins (a record that would grow to 19 until the rematch with the Oilers the following year). Mike Bossy scored 60 goals yet again, and Wayne Gretzky became acquainted with Billy Smith's crease.
