Who's the windshield? Who's the bug?

The NHL keeps very good track of who is throwing hits, but outside of the play-by-play listing, there is no record of who was the recipient of the hit.

Matt Martin leads anyone with a pulse with 102 hits so far. Next closest on the team is Travis Hamonic with 45. The newly departed Blake Comeau had 40.

I went through all 21 play-by-plays to see which of our guys was getting hit the most.

It's not suprising to see John Tavares leading the way as the recipient of 40 hits. 30 were delivered to him in the offensive zone. Up next is PA Parenteau receiving 33 hits (24 in the zone), and Travis Hamonic also with 33 (23 in the defensive zone). Hittees_medium

I don't have much analysis of the numbers right now, but I'll be updating this through the season. I also want to go back and look at some key stretches to see how it shook out.
