Evgeni Nabokov experienced the Islanders goalie rite of passage by going down with an injury in the first period, Rick DiPietro came in cold, took his first shot off the post, and completed a half-rink-length assist to John Tavares on the Matt Moulson game-winner that gave the Islanders breathing room.
All in all, a wild night, entertaining game, careless shot-filled first period by both sides, a chaotic goal-filled second period marked by a Big Mistake goal for each, and a hold-on-tight final four minutes as the Islanders clung to the final margin of 4-3.
