Selanne moving up on all time lists
Teemu Selanne is 41 years old and still scoring goals at a very high rate. He currently sits at 14th on the all time list with 639 goals, this includes the 2 goals last night. I am amazed at how well this guy is playing at what could be considered a senior citizens level in pro hockey. I wonder where he ends up on the all time list.
14th is Selanne 639
13- Dave Andreychuk at 640
12- Jagr -646 will Jagr be good enough still to stay in front of Selanne
11- Capt Shanahan- 656
10 Luc Robataille- 668
9- Mario Lemieux- 690
8- Steve Yzerman- 692
7- Mark Messier- 694
6- Mike Gartner- 708
5- Phil Esposito- 717
4- Marcel Dionne- 731
3- Brett Hull- 741
2- Gordie Howe- 801
1-Wayne Gretzky- 894
Where do you think he ends up? How many more years does he play? He has still been productive with 31/49/80 in 73 games last season.

Great Question
He and Lidstrom defy all logic. Each year you think it must be their last, but they really aren’t tailing off significantly.
If this is indeed his last season, then obviously Robataille is the highest he could go, but at 30 goals it’s a reasonable mark. You’d have to wonder though, if he goes for 30 this year, is the lure of passing Mario, Stevie Y, and Messier too great to pass up? He’s already a Hall of Famer, but that would put him in some truly rare air. I wouldn’t be at all shocked if he came back once more and put himself in the top 10.
Tavares is Tavares.
also depends on what Jagr does
he is 7 goals ahead, so he could end up in 10th with 23 goals

The bigger question mark is next season.
I think this season he can move up behind Lucky Luc, but does he stick around one more season? Even then catching Mario may be difficult since he needs to average 20 per season. He’s got to be playing hockey in dog years by now and each one has to be drastically harder than the previous.

If I'm on the Ducks,
I’m saying F this season and let’s get Selanne 50 goals to get him in the Top 9.
Been thinking will Selanne be 7 goals better than Jagr this season.
And I think the answer will be yes. 25 to 18 is my projection. Take that Duck and Flyer fans.
hard to say
Jagr last season he scored 25 goals. will he be worse or were the years away nothing. I would think Jagr gets around 15 but hey he could surprise us and still be productive
I would say Selanne gets 30-33 and Jagr 15-18 moving Selanne into 10th and leaving Jagr in 12th, with Mr Suspension dropping to 13th

I dont know about Selanne with 30-33, seems really optimistic IMO.
Let Us Go, Islanders! (Ever notice how strange that sounds without the contraction?)

Should have clarified.
Selanne 25 to Jagr 18. Selanne hitting 30 again, while possible, I think is improbable based on the Ducks overall. Jagr I don’t think is hitting 25 again in the NHL and 18 would still be respectable, but I think he is going to be holding the puck and passing more. 2 years later is nothing if you are 23, at his age, not helping him score more.
Really Hockey1219 because then the math works.
When Selanne played for Winnipeg
the city loved the guy, and Selanne loved Winnipeg…a city at the time that along with Que City were the two locations players hated to be traded to. Winnipeg also had another young top right wing prospect named Keith Tkachuk (forget how he spells his name). So, Winnipeg traded Selanne for Chad Kilger and Oleg Teverdosky…turns out, Tkachuk pushed for more and more money all the time, was never the model citizen Selanne was…at the time of his trade, the “experts”, Bob Mackenzie included, heavily criticized the trade, believing Winnipeg won hands down…“would you trade a future Trevor Linden (Kilger) and a future Paul Coffey (Teverdosky) for Selanne?” Well, neither one of those top 5 draftees pannned out…last I rememver Kilger he was playing 4th line for the leafs, years ago. Selanne is still playing.

The only comparison between Oleg and Coffey should have been their defensive ability.
